Dear Parents/Carers,
Parent Consultation Meetings
I hope that you once again enjoyed the opportunity to come into school and to talk to your child’s class teacher about the progress and development that they are making in all aspects of school life. I also hope that you got an opportunity to look at your child’s books and work to gain an understanding about what they have been learning this year so far. School governors were also on hand to capture your views about the strengths and areas for future development at our school. Please do remember to complete the online survey on our school website: www.stmarysn8.co.uk. Click on this link to access the survey – Parent and carer survey – March 2022
If you were unable to meet with your child’s class teacher, please liaise with the school office to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time within the next couple of weeks. For all of us at St Mary’s, it is a joy to once again be able to welcome you into our school more widely. We also hope to be able to resume our full school’s ‘Open-Door Policy’ from the beginning of the summer term.
Covid Update
Whilst Covid infection rates have significantly reduced and restrictions have eased to enable all of us to live our lives almost akin to what they were like before March 2020, this does not mean that Covid has gone away. Within our own school community for example, positive Covid cases are continuing to emerge. We will therefore continue to liaise with you as required to advise you about what to do should your child be affected.
World Book Day
World Book Day was a huge success last week and as ever, we all loved getting dressed up as some of our favourite book characters. More than anything, this fun day helps to raise to raise the profile of the joy and importance of reading. Our thanks to you for supporting your children with their fabulous costumes.
Ukraine Appeal
Thank you for so generously donating to the ‘People of Ukraine’ appeal. Together, we managed to raise a whopping £900.00. The monies raised will be forwarded to the Disaster and Emergencies Committee, who will then use it where most needed to support the millions of people being affected by the war in Ukraine. Thank you also for helping to raise the profile with your children about what is going on in this part of the world by providing them with blue and yellow clothing. We are also doing what we can and need to in school, in an age-appropriate way and in a way that does not discriminate against Russian people.
Car Parking in Rectory Gardens
Please can parents refrain from parking across residents’ drives on Rectory Gardens. It has come to our attention that this is happening on several occasions. Our school receives complaints from local neighbours and they are now considering looking into the possibility of Rectory Gardens becoming a ‘Safer School Street’ and which would mean that parents would not be able to drive along Rectory Gardens to drop their children off at all without being fined for the privilege. It may be the case that if things improve, local residents will not take this course of action.
Have a lovely weekend all,
Calvin Henry
