How We Keep Children Safe
We take the safety and wellbeing of our children very seriously and it is at the heart of everything we do. We have a number of policies and procedures that ensure we keep a clear and active focus on Safeguarding in all our work.
Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL)
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Duncan Beardwell. Duncan Beardwell can be contacted by email at dsl@stmarysn8.co.uk or by phoning the school on 0208 340 4898.
Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) are:

Crissy Bellini – EYFS Lead (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead)
Sally Walker – Admin Officer – (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead)

Keeping Children Safe
Keeping children safe can take the form of teaching children and supporting them to
- keep themselves safe and healthy
- recognise and manage risk
- develop healthy habits
- learn about sex and relationships
- be aware of E-Safety including grooming
- deal with conflict and bullying
- developing positive attitudes
The school also supports children and families with social, emotional and medical needs.
Safeguarding is also concerned with issues of Child Protection and keeping children safe from environmental harm or harm from others which might take the form of
- neglect, emotional and physical
- sexual abuse
- physical abuse
- grooming for sexual purposes
- exposure to extremism
