Dear Parents/Carers,
A belated welcome back to the new summer term. I hope that you had a wonderful Easter break and are now looking forward to the joys that this summer term will bring.
This Term!
There is already so much underway at school as we now more confidently plan provision and activities for your children for the rest of the school year. By the end of Monday, you will hopefully receive this term’s subject and topic web-overview as well as a class letter which outlines all that your children will be doing this term. There will be plenty of opportunities for fun and challenging activities for all! Do also remember that every two weeks, the class teachers provide an update about the most recent learning that has been going on in your child’s class below in the newsletter. Do have a read of the many things that they have been getting up to. There are also regular new posts in the website in the Year Group section.
Donkey Day Celebrations
In the last week of term before the Easter break, we had a wonderful ‘Donkey Day’ celebration when Hornsey High Street was closed off to traffic, and Church Lane children made their way to the Green outside Rectory Gardens to take part in an Easter Service led by Fr Bruce. It was a truly lovely experience as those of you who attended I’m sure will testify. On Friday morning of the same week, we went to Hornsey Parish Church for the first time since Christmas 2019, where the children led the Easter Story through superb acting, narration and song. It was lovely to once again take part in whole school events such as this.
Haringey Music Festival at The Royal Albert Hall
On that same last Friday of the Spring Term, the school choir took part in the Haringey Music Festival. This involved the majority of schools across Haringey coming together with their musical ensembles and choirs to perform so brilliantly together in this most special of locations. Thank you to the Haringey Music Service and Mrs Peacock for organising such a fabulous event for the children and to all of the parents who showed up to watch the event. I hope that you too greatly enjoyed the evening. Click here to see highlights of the concert https://vimeo.com/695218277?ref=em-share
Year 6 PGL Trip
It seems like so long ago now, but it is nevertheless worth mentioning how brilliant a time our Year 6 children had on their school journey in Osmington Bay, taking part in a range of fun and challenging outdoor activities. I visited the children for the day and I too had much fun watching them enjoying themselves in a very different environment from what they are typically used to. Those children that stayed behind also had some great visits and lots of fun during the week.
SATs Tests!
After a two-year hiatus, the SATs tests are back with us. These start with Year 2 tests for the next two weeks, with the Year 6 Tests taking place week beginning Monday 9th May. We have every confidence that our children will apply themselves brilliantly and do well.
Ofsted Inspection
As you may know, we also had an Ofsted inspection just prior to breaking up for the Easter break. It takes quite a while between Ofsted inspection and report publication but I will let you know the findings of the inspection just as soon as we receive the report and are able to it with you.
I wish you all a restful long Bank Holiday weekend and a happy Eid (when it comes) to our Muslim families.
We’ll see the children back in school on Tuesday 3rd May.
