Art – Autumn 1 2025
Art Club:
We explored Rasheed Araeen’s artwork, ‘Zero to Infinity’, thinking about how he invited visitors to make sculptures with large colourful blocks. We used Lego to create our own sculptures. We developed our 3D drawing skills to draw our Lego sculptures in multiple playful ways, with both hands, from memory, with a continuous line and as a longer observational study.
Year 1:
We have been inspired by the artwork of Roy Lichtenstein and Rachid Koraichi to create art works in 2D and 3D that express action and movement in response to our theme, Superheroes.
Year 2:
We have created beautiful silhouette paintings of the London skyline, developing our blending skills with oil pastels, creating washes with watercolours and mastering using drawing inks and collage techniques to create bold city skylines. We were influenced by the work of Claude Monet, J.M.W Turner, John Virtue and Stephen Wiltshire.
Year 3:
We have been inspired by the artworks of Ancient Egypt to create our own scroll paintings, learning colour mixing skills to match the colours used in Ancient Egyptian artworks and exploring hieroglyphics and symbol design that reflects our own interests.
Year 4:
We have been learning how to draw letters in 3D and developing our drawing skills to create our own book cover designs for ‘The Whale’ by Ethan and Vita Murrow.
We have explored contrasts of colour, studying Bob and Roberta Smith’s playful and colourful text art.
