Christmas Church Service at Hornsey Parish Church
The whole school came together to celebrate the Christmas story at Hornsey Parish Church. Songs were sung from the performances on both sites and the children acted out the story of the Nativity. It was a beautiful end to all our Christmas celebrations and reminded us of the importance of the story of Jesus.
Rectory Gardens Christmas Carol Concert
We had a lovely concert this afternoon with Year 5 taking the lead in telling the story of the Nativity. The acting was wonderful, the costumes were fabulous and the singing was magical. Thank you to the Year 5 team, and Ms Peacock for getting everyone so ready. The rest of the school joined in with the singing and also well done to the parents and carers for joining in some of the carols.
Santa Run
The children from Rectory Gardens and Church Lane put on their Santa hats and ran and ran and ran. They were raising money for sensory pods for Church Lane and Rectory Gardens in a JustGiving fundraising appeal. Some chidlren brought in their £1 and some told family and friends who donated on the JustGiving page. An extremely generous Christmas elf is match-funding our money up to the value of £1,000 so whatever money is raised by children will be matched. The total is looking really healthy so far but please donate here if you can Sensory Pods Fundraising
Church Lane Christmas Nativity and Nativity Puppet Show at Holy Innocents Church
With three fantastic performances, Church Lane shone as they sang and acted and danced their way through the story of Jesus’ birth last week. You were all amazing at the “Navititity”
Christmas Dinner Day and Christmas Jumper Day
We all looked very festive as we enjoyed our Christmas dinner today. Thank you so much to the wonderful kitchen staff for making such an effort. The plates looked (and more importantly tasted) delicious. Thank you to Lorraine and Souad, Abi, Tina, Barry, Karen and Grace who worked so hard to make it special. (more pictures to follow!)
Church Lane On Ice
All the Church Lane children went up to Alexandra Palace to watch the ice show of Peter Pan on Ice as part of the run up to Christmas. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed and even the long, steep climb up the hill.
Oh Yes It Is! Rectory Gardens to the Panto
As part of our pre-Christmas celebrations all the children from Rectory Gardens went to the Hackney Empire to see the traditional pantomime of Aladdin. Year 3 & 4 went on Tuesday 21st November and Y5 & Y6 went a week later. It was a thrilling show and the children enjoyed it very much and got involved in the singing and calling out. They particularly enjoyed their ice-creams in the interval so thank you PSA for buying those!
Christingle
Reception went to Holy Innocents on Monday to make Christingles with the Church Team and Nursery. We learnt that there are four sticks in a Christingle to represent the four seasons and, sang some songs about light to represent the candle. We really enjoyed ourselves and it has certainly put us in the mood for Christmas!
Advent
We are preparing the school for the period of Advent and had some little elves to help decorate the tree this morning.
We all came together to celebrate Advent culminating in the Christmas tree lights being switched on by one of the oldest children in the school plus the youngest.
