Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer break. It has been wonderful to see the children return with such energy and enthusiasm for the year ahead. We’re looking forward to all the opportunities, learning, and experiences that this term will bring.
The Evolution of St Mary’s
You should have received a letter with the exciting news of St Mary’s evolution and the plans to consolidate both sites at Rectory Gardens for September 2026. This marks a big step forward for our school community, and we will continue to keep you updated on progress. As part of this journey, we will be celebrating and saying goodbye to our Church Lane site, while also marking the history of the school over time with something special at Rectory Gardens. We want to involve everyone in this process as we look back with gratitude and forward with excitement.
Thank You for Joining Our Open Evening
A big thank you to everyone who attended our Open Evening this week. It was a pleasure to welcome families, give you the chance to meet class teachers, and share some of the wonderful work our specialist teachers are doing. Many of you also enjoyed sampling food from Olive Dining at Rectory Gardens (our apologies that this could not take place at Church Lane due to staff absence). It was also exciting to share the first images of what Rectory Gardens could look like once the consolidation takes place.
A Warm Welcome to New Faces at St Mary’s
We are delighted to welcome all the new families who have joined us this September, including our youngest children in Nursery and Reception. We’re also excited to introduce new staff members who have joined the team, bringing fresh energy and expertise. Finally, a special mention goes to our Year 3 children, who have made the move from Church Lane to Rectory Gardens and are already settling in beautifully.
Year 6 Parents – Important Information Meeting Wednesday 15th September 5-5.45pm
We would like to invite Year 6 parents to a meeting where we will share important information about the secondary school transfer process. We will also provide more details about the exciting residential trip to Pendarren in Wales this November. We look forward to seeing you there and answering any questions you may have. Year 5 parents, you are welcome to come along too if you want to find out about the process.
Looking Ahead
This term promises to be full of opportunities for our children, with a wide range of trips and activities already planned. We can’t wait to see the children engaging, learning, and flourishing in all these experiences.
Wishing you all a smooth and positive start to the new school year,
Jane O’Brien
