Dear Parents & Carers,

Just one week to the Easter holidays! This term has flown by and we finally seem to be enjoying the right weather which is very appreciated. Let’s hope it lasts into the holidays.

Highlights

We’ve had a busy two weeks since the last newsletter, including the Rectory Gardens disco which was lots of fun, and the Reception trip to Crouch End Library to meet and hear an author read her book.

Our biggest highlight this week was our Easter Procession, with Derek the Donkey, who processed with all the Church Lane children to have a service in the glorious sunshine.

Coming Up

Parent Consultations

Next week we have the Parent Consultations. If you haven’t made your appointment yet, please do so using the link Book Parent Consultations – it’s a great opportunity to see how your child has been progressing, and what their targets are for next term.

Book Fair

To coincide with the Parent Consultations, we will have a Book Fair on both sites so please have a browse. Every book you buy earns some commission for the school.

Easter Service

On Wednesday 25^th all the children will again be together, this time at Hornsey Parish Church for our Easter Service, which is always very special.

Easter Egg Hunt at Church Lane

On Saturday 21^st March, the Easter egg hunt will take place at Church Lane. This will coincide with the Church Tower Open Day and with the weather looking bright and sunny is a fantastic experience, if you’ve never climbed to the top before. Please see the poster below for more details.

Arbor

We will make our switch to Arbor after the Easter holidays so please bear with us, and look out any communication that is sent out regarding how to access Parent App and have access to the Arbor Portal.

Reminder

Please make sure you have read the recent letters from Debbie Butcher about tightening up on uniform standards (and the guidelines) and the stopping of soft starts in the morning.

• CODING @ EASTER – Nathan from the Code Club at St Mary’s RG will be offering online sessions for children in Y4, Y5 and Y6 during the Easter holidays:
  • Topic: Web Design (HTML & CSS) / Days: Monday to Friday (5 sessions total) / Duration: 1 hour / Times: 10:30am-11:30am or 2:30pm-3:30pm (awaiting majority preference) / Capacity: 15 students / Levy: £5/session (£25 total). Included: Certificate upon completion

• Alexandra Park Youth FC provides fun, inclusive football for boys and girls of all ages in North London, nurturing talent and teamwork in a supportive environment.  They will be holding trials for Y2 boys on Saturday 9th May and Y2-Y5 girls on Saturday 16th May – see poster below for details.
• Reminder: Rectory Gardens is a School Street. This means no driving on the road between 8am–9am and 2.45–3.30pm. Let’s keep our children safe, the air clean and prevent you from getting a penalty notice

Reminders

• Please remember to call or email if your child is going to be off school – don’t wait for us to call you!
• We are on Instagram – follow us to see our wonderful school @stmarysschooln8 and tell your family to follow us too!
• Reminder about unauthorised absences and holidays during term time As you will know from previous correspondence, St Mary’s will be following the Government guidance with regards to fining families when a child has missed 10 or more sessions (5 days) for unauthorised reasons. Children should only be out of school for reasons that have been authorised.
• We are strictly a nut-free school – please remember this for packed lunches and party treats
• We are a latex-free school – this includes balloons, latex gloves, rubber bands etc
