16 Jun Nursery Learning Carpentry and Exploring Colour
Nursery Have Been Developing Woodwork Skills and Exploring Colour
We have introduced a new wood working area into Nursery this week, in which the children will be working with real tools. Tools are being introduced one by one and we are currently working on using hammers. The first groups of children did a fantastic job today, with some even progressing to harder woods from the balsa wood starting point. As they work they are developing their hand-eye coordination, as well as building their fine motor skills (holding the nail) and their gross motor skills (hammering). They all enjoyed the experience and were excited to have a go! We are excited to see how their skills progress.
We have also loved exploring colour through a wide range of activities. Our learning has been driven by high quality texts, artist studies and hands on investigations. Here are a few photographs of just some of the activities we have enjoyed.
