Nursery Have A Busy Week & Reception Enjoy Forest School
Nursery had a lovely walk around the churchyard and then along the New River. The children found different types of leaves and noticed how some of the trees no longer have any leaves on them. We did a lot of listening, identifying all the different sounds in our environment. In response to all the autumn leaves, the children have coloured in leaves using autumn colours, and have printed the leaf shapes. We have enjoyed listening to traditional fairy tales and traditional nursery rhymes. The children have been using puppets to retell the story of Little Red Riding Hood. In RE, we have introduced the Christmas story and have enjoyed the story of Diwali. The children tried on some traditional clothes that are worn at Diwali.
Reception had a fantastic time during our second visit to Forest School at Alexandra Palace. We learned more about the plants around us, looking at different kinds of leaves and painted oak leaves using watercolours. We had a close look at some Mouse Ear Fungus, which really did look like a mouse’s ears! The children had lots of fun getting muddy in the mud kitchen and showed fantastic teamwork whilst building enormous dens.
