Dear Parents/Carers,
When I Grow Up Day (WIGUD)
Last week Thursday, Ms Simmons and Mrs Walker organised WIGUD, an event that owing to the pandemic, we have not had at St Mary’s for a few years. A number of adults selflessly gave up their time during the day to meet and speak with children about their professions and how they have managed to successfully get to where they have in life. Children across both school sites took great joy in learning about how to become a doctor, an ambassador, an air ambulance pilot, a footballer, a policewoman and many other professional positions. Our particular thanks to all the wonderful adult volunteers, including parents who came into school on the day and made this event so successful. Thank you also Ms Simmons and Mrs Walker!
National Education Union (NEU) Strike
I am so very sorry that this week we have had to again close classes to so many of our children. I completely understand the impact that your child not being in school has on you and your family. However, as I am sure you understand, if I do not have teachers in school to teach your children, regrettably I have to close those classes affected. Also, please be mindful that as soon as I am notified that a teacher is striking, this information is immediately passed on to you via the school office to try and help support you with your own planning. Again, I fully understand how frustrating it is for you; I will always endeavour to help you in whatever way I can. Currently, no more scheduled strike days are scheduled.
The Next Two Weeks
In the run up to the Easter break, we have a few things happening at school for you to be mindful of and perhaps add to your calendar. This includes:

We also have music concerts, sporting events, an awards ceremony at Ally Pally and class trips and more besides. Also, save the date for the St Mary’s International Evening for Tuesday 16th May – see below for initial information. Do check the school website for details as well as look out for text messages from our highly efficient school office team.
Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend, particularly to our St Mary’s mothers for this forthcoming Mothering Sunday,
