Royal Institution Maths Masterclasses at Highgate School
Over the course of the year, three groups of Y5 pupils have been attending the Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses, hosted by Highgate School.
The programme has been a fantastic opportunity for pupils to gain an in-depth understanding of the scope, creativity, relevance, and potential applications of mathematics.
In each of the six sessions they explored various fascinating, academic areas of mathematics in a way that really engaged the children and inspired curiosity in the subject. Their aim is to help pupils see that mathematics is for everyone and that there are many careers built on it, as well as to encourage them to continue their interest and engagement.
On Thursday 9th June all the pupils who had taken part in the three groups over the year enjoyed a celebration event (and a fabulous lunch) and we hope to take part again next year.
