Dear Parents & Carers,
As we settle into the term at St Mary’s Primary School, I wanted to share a few updates and reminders to keep you informed and reassured about how things are going across the school.
Positive Updates from Around the School
Vertically Grouped Classes:
Our new vertically grouped classes and groups are working extremely well. Children are learning effectively and adapting brilliantly to this arrangement.
Amalgamation onto one site:
Despite all year groups now being together on one site, I am pleased to confirm that the length of playtimes and lunchtimes remains unchanged. Children continue to have plenty of time to eat comfortably in the hall, and the transition has been smooth.
Reception Independence:
Our Reception children are already showing great independence by learning to clear their own plates after lunch. Many children took to this new responsibility from their very first day, and we are extremely proud of them!
Uniform Reminders
Thank you to the vast majority of families for ensuring children arrive in the correct school uniform each day—it really helps foster a sense of belonging and pride.
A few important reminders:
- Earrings: For health and safety reasons, only small stud earrings are permitted. Please ensure your child does not wear hoops or dangly earrings to school.
- Shoes: All shoes or trainers must be completely black and should be worn every day.
Next Steps
- Please check your child’s uniform before they leave for school, ensuring it meets our expectations.
- If you have any questions or need support with uniform requirements, please contact the school office—we’re here to help!
Thank you if you came along to our Meet The Teacher Open Evening the other day, we hope you enjoyed what you saw and feel as excited as we do about the future. We have also celebrated Jeans for Genes day, and Year 3 took part in their first Forest School. Reception will go next, and Mr Oakley has taken children on three sporting fixtures with more to come Sporting Update Autumn 1 2026
To celebrate Whole Class Instrument Teaching (WCIT), our Year 4 teachers took their children to Drumsheds last year to take part in a concert featuring all the children who learn through the WCIT scheme. Dan Early, head of Haringey Music said “The event sparked imaginations, inspired new ideas, and provided an unforgettable experience for all who took part. Our children and young people were a credit to us in every way, supported throughout by a dedicated team of teachers from schools, settings and Haringey Music Service.” WCIT Drumsheds Concert – July 2026
We asked for your help this week for things to make our Early Years even more wonderful – the link will remind you what we’re after. If you can help, please bring into the office Early Years Need Your Help
