Author Visit at Hornsey Library

This week, a group of Y1 and Y2 children went to visit Hornsey Library to meet an author illustrator Claire Alexander. We were invited by Olivia from Pickled Pepper Books who are hosting the Haringey Literary Festival to celebrate Indie bookshop week.

We were all very excited to meet her and hear her read her book. She told us that she based this book, The Think Ups, on spending days with her own children when they were a bit bored at home.  Claire read the story and explained her inspiration for the story illustrations.

The most exciting part was when Claire showed us how to draw an illustration with another hidden drawing behind it. We got to fold our papers almost in half, drew a face and then the hidden box. But we do not want to give all the secrets away… you should read the book yourself.

We were delighted when each one of us got to talk to Claire about our own drawing and the we received  a signed copy of her book The Think Ups!
