Autumn 1 2023 Sporting Round-Up
Cricket seasons starts with the Haringey indoor Cricket cup!
On 11th October we took a mixed group of Y5-6 boys and girls to the Haringey Indoor Cricket Cup. The first game was very close as we lost by one run to Coleridge! We also lost the 2nd game against a strong Rokesley but we went on to win our final two games against Lee Valley. Triston and Ed hit the most boundaries but everyone contributed through batting, bowling or fielding! It was a great experience where we improved rapidly throughout the day and will now be ready for more cricket in the spring/summer terms. Thank you also to local estate agents Phillip Alexander for your continued support in supplying us with sports tops.

PE Kits – A Reminder
Have a look at the photo below to see what the correct PE kit looks like. A t-shirt in a house colour, black shorts or track suit bottoms and trainers. In the winter there will be the option to put a warmer layer on. On the second day that children have PE they will just need trainers with their uniform.
Athletics Module at Church Lane!
Athletics Across The School
Our young athletes at Church Lane and Rectory gardens have had a fantastic start to term with our athletics module! Children have been learning running, jumping and throwing techniques. The children also learn to measure and support each other, learning to measure jumps in cm’s and M’s and record personal bests!
St Marys Achieve Bronze at the Ten Pin Bowling Competition
Ms Beeson and several staff took Alex, Prince, Senay, Leo, Naomi, Haidar, Noah, Jojo, Leona, Darius, Kenny, Lio for a fantastic bowling event at Finchley Bowl. We entered two teams – one finished 6th and the other picked up bronze medals! Lio hit a stunning strike and the children had a brilliant time. Well done all!
Girls Football Cup 29 09 23
Mr Oakley and Mrs Day took Lena, Debbie, Maria, Zelal, Harri, Daniah-Lea, Deborah and Waverley to the Girls Cup on 29th September. The girls played some good football and had some good results but unfortunately narrowly missed out on qualifying for the QF’s. The team really improved throughout the day and the attitude and teamwork was exceptional. Well done all!
Boys Finish 2nd After Dominating Haringey Football Cup
Mr Alison took a strong squad to New River Village to play in the Boys Football Cup.
The squad was: Zephaniah, Zaiah, Max, Noah K, Christian, Jack, Bejan, Triston and Joseph.
They played 10 matches in total winning 7 of them, drawing 1 and losing 1. After qualifying easily for the QF, the boys went on to beat Rokesly and Tetherdown on the way to the final. The final was seriously close as we led 2-1 but sadly lost 3-2 in the final moments. We’ve won this cup twice in a row so it was time to let someone else win anyway! A fantastic effort from a talented team!
St Marys Shine at the Mixed Football Festival!
St Marys Shine at the Mixed Football Festival!
We had a fantastic day out at the Mixed Football festival on Friday 6th October. Mr Alison and Mrs Day took a mixed group of boys and girls to participate at New River. After a tough first game where we lost heavily we won our next game convincingly and got better and better throughout the day, winning more games as the day went on. It was brilliant to see boys and girls playing together competitively and supporting each other so well! Results to follow

Haringey Cross Country Competition
Mr Oakley took 25 pupils along to New River Village to take part in the first sporting fixture of the year – cross country.
The children who took part were: Ada, Adrian, Amina, Bejan, Belen, Chibu, Ciana, Deborah, Ed, Ella, Harri, Isabelle, Jack, Joseph, Lena, Maia, Maria, Nicole, Noah K, Olivia, Preston, Tess, Triston, Walter, and Waverley.
There were some great performances and some good effort from children who had never taken part before. 127 children ran in each race and Isabelle Page came 63rd which in a hugely competitive race was a great effort. The boys team finished 6th overall with some fantastic results. Jack finished 3rd after leading for most the race! Triston finished 10th and Bejan, Joseph and Adrian all finished top 50. Jack, and possibly Triston, have been selected to represent Haringey in the London Youth Games. Thank you also to Nada Stankova (Ed’s mum) for the wonderful photos
