Y4 Get Hands-On With Ancient Roman Artefacts
On Monday we were visited by Michaela from ‘Firing London’s Imagination’. We enjoyed a workshop looking at ancient Roman artefacts found in London. First, we sorted a variety of artefacts from the oldest to the newest then we learnt all about the discovery of the Highgate kilns a few years ago. The Highgate kilns were found just up the road in Highgate Wood (find out more here) We were then invited to carefully handle pieces of pottery over 2000 years old. Finally, we had the best time making our own ‘poppy head beaker’ using clay. There were lots of stages to the making process and we were super pleased with the results!
