St Marys achieve Silver at the Year 5-6 Haringey Athletics Championship!
On 19th May it was the year 5-6 Haringey Championship – the largest athletics event of the season. It was a brilliant sunny day with some outstanding performances. Our girls and boys relay teams both achieved gold and won by huge distances too! Mariah won a silver medal for her 100m sprint in the finals (2nd fastest girl in Haringey) and over the day we enjoyed numerous top 3 finishes. When the results came back I was amazed at how well we’d done and how close it was! We finished 2nd from all Haringey schools with the boys only 1 point from winning! There was a fantastic team spirit throughout the day with every event and every athlete being cheered on clapped back to the stands! I was immensely proud of all involved.

The children picked up their medals with pride and Mariah also achieved an individual bronze for top 3 girl on the day, that’s 4 medals in two weeks for her! There were some fantastic events with the boys doing especially well in javelin and sprints and the girls dominating the long jump and also doing well in the sprints. Very proud of all involved.
