Turquoise Class Assembly
A Celebration of Islam and the Round City of Baghdad
We very much enjoyed learning all about Islam and some of its history. The children learnt about the building of the Round City of Baghdad which was the centre of the Islamic world for hundreds of years. A leader (caliph) called Al Mansur built the city and had great dreams and expectations for it to be very important in many ways. The assembly showed what we have learned from this ancient civilisation.
The children spoke clearly and loudly and their singing was very lovely. Well done Turquoise!
Topaz Class Assembly
Hidden Figures
Topaz class taught us about four important “Hidden Figures” from Black History. Katherine Johnson (a mathematician NASA scientist), Dorothy Vaughan (mathematician and computer programmer), Mary Jackson (mathematician and aerospace engineer) and Christine Darden (mathematician, data analyst and aeronautical engineer). They all worked at NASA and made significant impacts in the fields of science, mathematics and the Space Race.
