Dream On – A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Y6 Production

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a play by William Shakespeare that intertwines three stories.

The Lovers: Hermia and Lysander elope because Hermia’s father wants her to marry Demetrius. Helena, in love with Demetrius, reveals their plan to him, and a chase into the woods ensues.

The Fairies: Fairy King Oberon uses a magical potion to make Queen Titania and Demetrius fall in love with the first thing they see when they wake up, leading to comic chaos.

The Mechanicals: A group of actors, preparing a play for a royal wedding, go into the woods to rehearse. One of them, Bottom, is transformed into a donkey by the fairy Puck and becomes the object of the enchanted Titania’s affection.

By the end, all misunderstandings are resolved, the lovers are paired correctly, Titania and Oberon reconcile, and the Mechanicals perform their play at a triple wedding.

Our Y6 production holds true to all the original story but adds some modern twists and a distinctly 80s soundtrack!
