Dear Parents and Carers,
Easter Events
With only one week left until we finish for the Easter break, we have lots of Easter activities and celebrations to look forward to. Today at Church Lane the children are having an Easter egg hunt. On Tuesday, we will be attending Hornsey Parish Church and the Y3s will be leading the Easter service. I am very excited for my first donkey day, it sounds like a wonderful celebration and I look forward to seeing everyone there, processing down the High Street to Rectory Gardens.
Fundraising for Special Causes
This week we saw the whole community come together to raise money for The Brain Trust, a charity that is close to the school’s heart, following the death of our school business manager, Helen, last academic year. Children and families were so creative making games that they shared with the rest of the school. The children had great fun going from class to class playing games. We had a staff cake sale and made a whopping £622.70 for the charity. Thank you to everyone who supported this event. In addition, we raised £228.71 for Red Nose Day.
Mayoral and Local Elections – CL Closure Thursday 2nd May
When the Rainbow Room at Church Lane is used for elections it does not usually impact on the school day. Unfortunately, this year, and due to new requirements around the election process requiring additional voter ID checks, they have to use the main hall. Because of this, the Church Lane site will be closed on the 2nd May. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Parent Survey
Your views and opinions are extremely important to us as we look at how we can continue to improve what we do, and give your children the best experience at school. Thank you to all of the parents who completed the survey for us which will help inform school development. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive which is fantastic, however we will be reviewing comments and feedback that can help us to be even better. This will be sent out separately at the beginning of next week.
School Streets
The safety of our children is of the upmost importance, and for this reason many schools are getting School Streets, keeping children safe at the beginning and end of the school day. As you will be aware from previous correspondence, the School Street outside St Mary’s Rectory Gardens site will start on Monday 15th April. This means that no one will be able to drive into Rectory Gardens at the following times unless they have an exemption – between 8am & 9am and 2.45pm and 3.30pm. Anyone driving into Rectory Gardens during these times will receive a PCN. Please click here to see more St Mary’s N8 School Street Parent information Letter 14 03 24
SIAMS Inspection Update
You will be aware that an inspector, Mrs Nicola Flower, came to visit St Mary’s last Thursday to carry out our schools SIAMS inspection. It was a wonderful day and I am very proud of all of the children who spoke with the inspector. Earlier you received an email with the wonderful report so please make sure that you read it as it says a lot about our fabulous school and community. If you missed it, you can read it here SIAMS report St Mary’s Church of England VA Primary School Hornsey
Have a wonderful weekend,
