International Evening
May 16th 2023 saw the long-anticipated return of our International Evening. The school community came together to celebrate the wonderful cultural heritages and diversity of our families. We were overwhelmed with the generosity of those who donated incredible food to share and were wowed with the talents of children, parents and other relatives who entertained us during this special evening.
The performers were (in order of performance):-
- All children singing Maliswe
- Ceyda and mum, Anna dancing a Greek dance – Siko Chopepse Koulik Mou
- St Mary’s Band playing Wimoweh
- Maia, Diego and parents Montse & Javi telling and acting out the Catalunya story – El Patufet
- Elena and Gosia – a Polish dance
- Lisa Fox & The House Band (Coren Peacock, Steve Baptiste, Becky Davies & Charlie Walker) playing You’ve Got A Friend
- Y5 & Y6 – performing a bhangra dance
- Ms Seyit and her sister Melisa led the whole audience in a Kurdish dance
- Samuel, Beatrice and mum, Katherine performing a Polish dance with a lesson so all the children could join in
- Y4 performed a French song with Mme Williamson
- Elena, Robyn and Olivia – dance & song Arkadazim Essek
- Staff Dance – Jerusalema
- Na’rae & House Band – Money In My Pocket
- Na’rae & Auntie Marla – singing Superstar
- St Mary’s School Choir singing Twende
Thank you to all St Mary’s staff who organised and worked, to all children and parents who cooked or took part and the PSA for running the refreshments. You all made it a night to remember.
