St Mary’s PSA is a group of parents and carers who work together for the benefit of the school. As a parent or carer with a child at St Mary’s, you automatically become a member of the PSA.
St Mary’s PSA is a separate entity to the school itself. It is a registered charity, governed by a written constitution. This constitution sets out the PSA’s objectives and how it is run. The day-to-day running of the PSA is the responsibility of a committee which is made up of both parents and staff volunteers.
The PSA has two objectives: to raise money to improve the educational opportunities available to the children at St Mary’s, and to help foster a strong sense of community among the children, parents and staff. Everything the PSA does is for the benefit of the children. Every year, thanks to the parents, carers, staff and children who support the fundraising activities, the PSA raises money and makes a positive contribution to the school.
Mostly through events. Some events are just for the children, some for adults and some for the whole family. The calendar of events is planned at the beginning of the school year and published on the school website.
The PSA has help support a range of investments into to the school, such as new playground equipment on both sites, purchasing new books for the reading areas, new SEN equipment, and funds dedicated to each class to spend as the teacher wishes. All the resources funded by the PSA are items that the school would not be able to purchase otherwise. The PSA also helps to fund activities such as buying tickets for all the school to visit the pantomime at Christmas and subsiding the cost of the Y6 leavers hoodies.
